Kyle
Strickler Stars In $10,000 To Win RoDT “North Carolina Nationals Win!

(Middlebourne, WV) After a winter of hyping up the largest payday in tour history the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour presented by Arizona Sport Shirts got its 2014 season underway this weekend at the County Line Raceway’s “North Carolina Modified Nationals. It didn’t take competitors or fans long to see that the highly anticipated and nationally recognized event would live up to the hype. Live for the County Line Crazies as well as an impressive nation wide audience on XSAN fifty Renegades of Dirt Modifieds from eleven states would sign in for the weekend finale with the ‘Buckeye State’ of Ohio and the host state of North Carolina the most represented states with thirteen cars each.

When action got underway with qualifying for the open wheel modifieds it would be track regular Russell Erwin of Beaverdam, VA who would take the top honors with a lap time of 15.914. Erwin would then draw a three for the five heat race lineup invert. When the heat races rolled to the track it was “The Hurricane Hank Edwards who would take Slicker Graphics Heat Race #1. The Elite Chassis owner, Nick Hoffman would take control of DirtCast.com Heat Race #2 from his outside front row position and never look back taking the win. 2014 Rookie of the Year contender Chris Arnold of Matoaca, VA made an impressive comeback from a Thursday night wreck to win ModFury.com Heat Race #3. Kyle Stickler navigated around the low side of the track to go from his third starting spot to the lead in taking the Karsyns Krusaders Heat Race #4 victory. North Carolina native Ryan Ayers grabbed the early lead in American Racer Heat Race #5 and showed the way throughout setting himself up for a spot in the A-Main redraw. Results of the heat race draw: Nick Hoffman, Kyle Strickler, Ryan Ayers, Chris Arnold, Hank Edwards.

When the first of two B-Mains rolled on to the speedway it was the #01 of Patrick Lyon who would set a blistering pace and quickly pull out to a 1.5 second lead on the field. As the laps continued to click off it was Mineral Wells, WV Tyler Evans who worked the inside of the track to a transfer spot with Lyon taking the win. Bmain #2 was lead on to the track by Matt Emmerling of Hickory, NC who would jump out to an early lead but quickly found the 33M of Chris Meadows and the X of Chris Parker applying pressure for two spots. The trio battled for the entire eight laps before Emmerling crossed the stripe first followed by Friday nights winner, Chris Parker. The field of non-transfers was then distributed among the represented states with OH, NC, SC, VA, PA, MD, KY, and WV all among cars in the field for the Race of the States. The 20lap $750 to win Non-Qualifier witnessed Crab Orchard’s, Chris Meadows set sail and earn the win. In victory lane Meadows chose to tag the tail of the A-Main instead of the payout when the opportunity was presented to him.

Immediately following the Race of the States it was GO TIME for the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour presented by Arizona Sports Shirts A-Main event, twenty one of the east’s biggest and best made up the roster set to go forty laps to the checkered flag with $10,000 dollars on the line. A pair of Mooresville, NC residents would lead the field to the green with Strickler catching the lead on lap one. Strickler would continue to slowly distance himself from Hoffman as the laps clicked off, meanwhile the entire field from third on back was nose to tail and/or two wide battling for positioning. NASCAR competitor David Stremme was working the extreme high side of the speedway picking up positions at a rapid rate while youngster Tyler Evans was working the extreme low side of the speedway to perfection. At the halfway point it was still Strickler leading as the talented group of racers jockeyed for spots back through the pack.

With just ten to go the third caution of the event would wave for a spin in turn one between a 5th running Chris Arnold who got turned around by the #11 of Hank Edwards, both would exit the track as we went back green with Kyle again grabbing the point and leading the way. A large crowd on hand would then rise to their feet as the battle heated up throughout the field with Evans, Stremme, Workman, and several others dueling for spots seven through thirteen, all the while Hoffman continued to keep Strickler within striking distance. However when the dust settled and the black and white linen waved it was “The High Side Tickler Kyle Strickler who would cross first followed by N. Hoffman, R. Erwin, R. Ayers, R. Michael, T. Dickson, T. Evans, B. Workman, D. Ramey, and D. Stremme rounding out your top ten. A rousing applause greeted the pilot of the all new BeakBuilt Chassis #8 Cedar Peaks Enterprises, JRI Shocks, American Racer, TomCat Performance, SRI, and Stock Car Steel sponsored machine in Lias Tire Victory Lane. The victory would mark the largest payday and biggest win of his illustrious dirt modified career which includes two Harris Clash wins and a Night of 1000 stars win in IMCA country.

An emotionally overjoyed winner would join tour announcer Michael Gibson in victory lane; “I can’t thank my crew enough, these guys work super hard to get us where we are. I also want to thank my entire family, my dad, my girlfriend, my daughter…wow this is just awesome stated Strickler. “You picture yourself having a shot at winning it and when you actually you do its just so surreal and amazing added Kyle. “I want to thank Steve Summerlin and County Line Raceway as well as the Renegades of Dirt. We are hoping to win the tour points this year so this is definitely a good start finished Strickler.
